In this paper, we address the issue of submerged sound source depth estimation in the deep ocean using the idea of multipath ray separation. The spatial distribution of the coherent sound pressure field provides the separating angles of multipath sound rays from the moving source and can be used to infer the accurate position of the source. A method for transforming the sound pressure spectrogram using the multi-frequency and grazing angle information is introduced, which helps extract parameters from the received pressure spectra more effectively. The proposed method can be used as an auxiliary method to estimate the azimuth of a submerged target for passive detection and provides an idea for feature engineering of intelligent matching field processing.
