Versatile Video Coding (VVC) is a new international video coding standard developed by JVET. One of the functionalities that VVC supports is so called Gradual Decoding Refresh (GDR). GDR is mainly for (ultra) low-delay applications. As the latest video coding standard, VVC makes use of a number of new and advanced coding tools. Many of them, however, can cause leaks for GDR applications. This paper describes encoder algorithms used in VTM reference software to prevent leaks for GDR applications.
