Three problems of reconstruction artifacts commonly encountered in computed tomography scanning that are misalignment, background impurities, and a defective X-ray detector. These problems still are challenges in the development and improvement of tomography scanning. To solve these problems, adequate test data sets are necessary for developing efficient and accurate correction method. Thus, this study proposes three methods to develop a software simulator named SIMUT that can efficiently simulate three types of errors caused by tomography scanners.
