This talk will present an overview of the algorithms and deployment of AV1, the royalty-free video compression standard developed by the Alliance for Open Media (AOMedia) consortium. Before deep diving into AV1 tools and performance, a high-level overview of block-based video coding concepts and terminologies will be presented. The presentation will close with conclusions and takeaways.
